Dear Editor

Has anyone considered what Gunfree South Africa and the ANC government are trying to do.

They want to institute a system where the weak and elderly are at the mercy of the strong, the lone are at the mercy of the gang. They want to give violent criminals a government guarantee that citizens are disarmed. Sorry, that's unacceptable.

Citizens should have the right to chose. Those who wish to meekly submit to criminals should not force their beliefs on others. Obviously they have not heard of or believe in democracy.

Gunfree South Africa has been very successful in propagating hate speech against legal licenced firearms owners. Making all sorts or wild untruthful claims using the most flawed logic and research in emotional pleas to save lives.

What is important is our freedom. If saving lives is more important than anything else, why don't we throw out the constitution? We have the technology to administer an annual truth serum session to the entire population. We'd catch the criminals and mistaken arrest or unpunished crime would be a thing of the past. How does that sound?

Now we have another piece of GFSA sponsored, flawed and inconclusive research (A. Altbeker, Wits University) being touted by GFSA as "the proof". That firearms owners should be deprived of their means of defense because they are targets for criminals.

Lets apply this idiotic thinking to other criminal activity and see how reasonable it is. Women should be locked up because criminals target them. Motor vehicle owners should be deprived of their vehicles because criminals target them. Banks should be closed and cash-in-transit vehicles banned because criminals target them. Farms should be abandoned because criminals target farmers.

That any thinking person can agree with banning guns in the hands of licenced owners is an indication of the hate campaign waged by Gunfree South Africa. It has nothing to do with common sense, logic or freedom. Nor will it save any lives.
