Lobby organisations

Lobby organisations are often NGOs or support and in turn are supported by NGOs. It is from such organisations that the main danger to correct crime control comes. Invariably lobby organisations aim to influence public opinion. Subverting the process of clear and reasoned thinking with emotional statements. Designed to influence and promote irrational solutions that suit their mission. We shall use the correct term, propaganda for these appeals to emotion rather than logic and common sense.

Anti-Saloon League Who can doubt the success of the Anti-Saloon League. Who knows how this success came about?

Gun control The best modern examples of a lobby group extensively using propaganda is gun control. There is also the myriad of organisations devoted to saving something. All seek solutions through legislation and the influence of public opinion.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. -- C. S. LEWIS
